Skate King Frequently Asked Questions

General Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I bring my own skates?
A. Yes, you may bring in your own roller skates or inline skates.

Q. Does Skate King rent roller skates or inline skates?
A. We rent quad roller skates from sizes toddler 10 to adult size 13. We do not have inline skates for rent, but they are allowed on the skating floor.

Q. Do you charge everyone to enter the skating center?
A. Everyone pays admission on all skating sessions. (However, our managers have discretion, dependent on the session, as to individual cases or situations.)

Parents/adults that are chaperoning birthday parties or a group skate must also pay admission (even if you do not want to skate).

Chaperoning parents/adults during Teen Skate do not have to pay because you are not allowed to skate during that session.

Q. Do I pay admission if I am meeting a group of friends and not skating?
A. Yes, everyone pays admission to enter the center.

Q. Can I bring a birthday cake/cupcakes/balloons if I did not book a birthday party room?
A. No, in order to bring in any outside food, you must have a party room or rent the center.

Q. Do you allow strollers, push toys, skateboards, wheelchairs, etc. on the skating floor?
A. No, for safety reasons, we do not allow any toys or other items on the skating floor during sessions or parties.

Q. Do you have skate walkers for rent?
A. No, we do not have any skate walkers.

Q. Do you offer a discount if guests bring their own skates to sessions that include free roller skate rental?
A. No, we do not offer a discount; the price is the same for all guests. During those sessions, skate rental is offered as a courtesy.

Q. Can parents walk on the skating floor with their child(ren)?
A. For safety reasons, we do not allow anyone on the skating floor without roller skates.

Q. Does Skate King sell skates?
A. Yes, we have a pro shop available to you during any of our regular skate sessions.

Q. Do you provide lockers for rent?
A. Yes, we provide lockers for rent during all of our skating sessions.

Q. I lost the locker key. What now?
A. There is a lost locker key charge of $15.00.

Q. Do you accept credit/debit cards?
A. Yes, we accept credit cards with a $20 minimum purchase.

 

 

 

 Party Room Rentals FAQ’s

Q. What do I need to do to reserve or a party room?
A. A Skate King Party Room rental is $75.00 per room.  You must come into the skate center during any session to book a party room. (see schedule)

Q. When do I pay for the party room(s)?
A. We require the $75.00 at the time of party room booking. This amount is just for the party room space.

Q. Can I reserve a party room over the phone?
A. No, you must come in and pay ($75.00) for the party room before your reservation can be scheduled.

Q. How far in advance do I need to book the party room?
A. We advise that you book your party at least 2 weeks in advance.
**To check date availability, you can call (314) 382-1112 during our regular session times.

Q. If I miss my party room reservation, can I get my money back?
A. No, party room rentals are non-refundable.

Q. Can I pay for my party guests in advance?
A. Yes, you may, on the day of the party.

Q. Can I bring a birthday cake/cupcakes/balloons if I did not book a birthday party room?
A. No, in order to bring in any outside food, you must have a party room reserved.

Q. Can I order pizza for delivery for my birthday party?
A. Yes, we ask that you order at the beginning of the skate session. Imo’s Pizza at 314-389-1122 and Dominos at 314-389-3030 regularly deliver to our skate center.

Q. Can I arrive early to set up the birthday party room?
A. Due to high customer volume, we do not allow customers to set up party rooms before the sessions. All customers will be allowed in promptly at the beginning of the session.

 

 

 

 Private Party Rink Rental FAQ's

Q. What do I need to book a Skate King private party? 
A. There is a $250.00 non-refundable deposit due at the time of booking the private party.  You must come into the skate center during any session to book a private party. (see schedule)

Q. How far in advance do I need to book a private roller skating party?
A. We advise that you book your party 6 to 8 weeks in advance.
**To check date availability, you can call (314) 382-1112 during our regular session times.

Q. I need to cancel my private party; can I get my money back?
A. No, private party deposits are non-refundable.

Q. Do I need to provide a guest list for my party?
A. You may provide a guest list if you like but it is not required. You may provide your guest list on the day of the party.

Q. Can I bring in my own food or drinks during my private party?
A. Yes, we do allow outside food and drinks inside the skate center during private
parties. This includes catered services.

Note: No open flames/food burners are allowed. (We ask that you do not bring in foods that are served in Skate King’s concession stand.)

Q. Can I bring alcoholic beverages during my private party?
A. No, for your safety we do not allow alcoholic beverages in the skating center.

Q. Can I have outside party vendors during my private party?
A. Yes, we do allow vendors with Skate King Management’s permission. Note: Vendors are allowed to set up in the party room areas.

Q. Can I bring my own DJ?
A. Yes, you may bring your own DJ. Your DJ will be able to hook up their equipment (computer, iPhone, etc.) into the skate center’s sound system via an aux cord provided by us. DJ’s are not allowed to unhook any of our sound equipment.

Q. Can I charge my guests admission to my private party?
A. No, you may not charge guests to enter the skate center during a private party.

Q. How early can I arrive before my private party?
A. You may come in 15 minutes prior to your scheduled party time.

Q. Can I pay for an additional hour to extend my private party?
A. No, the rink is available for three (3) hours of rental.

 

 

 

 Fundraiser Rink Rentals FAQ’s

Q. What are the qualifications to hold a fundraiser at Skate King? 
A. Our fundraiser rink rentals are reserved for charitable organizations only.  Any organization with a 501(c)3 letter from the Internal Revenue Service qualifies may hold a fundraiser at the skate center.  Family reunion committees may also hold fundraisers by providing a copy of the organization's recent bank statement.  

Q. What do I need to book a fundraiser?
A. We require that you bring a copy of the organization’s 501(c)3 (or bank statement) along with the $250.00 non- refundable deposit at the time of booking the fundraiser. You must come into the skate center during any session (see regular skating session schedule) to book a fundraiser.

Q. How far in advance do I need to book a fundraiser?
A. We advise that you book your party 6 to 8 weeks in advance.
**To check date availability, you can call (314) 382-1112 during our regular session times.

Q. Can we bring our own DJ?

A. The admission price is up to your organization. The most successful fundraisers have not exceeded $10 for admission. NOTE: Please let your guest know if the two dollar ($2.00) skate rental is included in the admission price or not.

A. You may come in 15 minutes prior to your scheduled event time.

Q. Can we pay for an additional hour to extend the fundraiser?
A. No, the rink is available for three (3) hours of rental.

About Skate King

Skate King Corporation was founded in 1970 by Mathew Foggy, Jr. Its original name was Martin Luther Memorial Rink. When the company began its expansion in 1978, the name was changed to avoid commercializing Dr. King's name. The company's name change to Skate "King" in order to identify the nature of the business and to retain the vision and commitment of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.  

Skate King Corporation has operated skating centers in Illinois, Missouri, Louisiana, and New Jersey. This St. Louis Skate King is the flagship center.
